The recent forum held in Adama, Oromia brought together stakeholders from across the agricultural sector to discuss the importance of mechanization for the development of agriculture in the region.

Mr. Getu Gemechu, head of Oromia Bureau of Agriculture noted that the Agriculture sector and smallholder farmers can’t transform from subsistence farming to modern farming without the adoption of Agricultural Mechanization. In this regard, he stressed that the government of Oromia regional state has a strong will to support agricultural mechanization in the region.
The forum participants discussed potential solutions to address these challenges, including expanding access to finance through financial institutions, establishing assembly centers for machinery, and improving the availability of repair and maintenance services.
